A visit to the Connecticut Lakes region is a popular adventure vacation destination. This area of far northern New Hampshire offers unlimited opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities, such as snowmobiling, hiking, camping, fishing, birding, ATV trail riding, and hunting.
The Great North Woods Region is an outdoor paradise and contains the most rural area of the state. The region was once famous for log drives – early loggers floated the logs down the Connecticut River to waiting mills downstream every spring. The NH Great North Woods region borders Quebec, Canada to the north, Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom to the west and Maine to the east.
This region is comprised of northern and central Coos County. A very beautiful, rural, and “energy active” area – the 45 parallel crosses here and numerous paranormal events, sightings, and stories have taken place here.
