Poore Family Farm Homestead Museum
Great North Woods New Hampshire Attraction
RFD #1, Stewartstown, Colebrook, NH • Ph: 603-237-5500
Founded in 1979 by Kenneth Poore, the last remaining descendant of the Poore family, the Poore Family Homestead is a 100-acre settlement that serves as a historical and educational site and a shining example of pre-electrical rural life. This museum is the final standing historic farm settlement of its kind in the north country and is home to large collections of artifacts, printed materials, hand tools, and farming equipment dating back to as much as 200 years ago. Poore Family Homestead hosts several annual cultural events for the community and visiting tourists. Various events include Mountain Men reenactments, Open Barn celebrations, and the Poore Fest music festival. The Poore Family Homestead Historic Farm Museum hosts an annual open barn and celebration in recognition of Kenneth Poore’s birthday every July 5th. The museum opened in 1994.
