Fishing NH – The CT River and Connecticut Lakes in NH
This is trout and salmon country. The deep, dark, cold lakes of northern New Hampshire are where you’ll find huge Lake trout, Landlocked salmon and species of game fish. The Connecticut River is often approached by fly-fishing anglers seeking brookies (brook trout), rainbow trout, or salmon. Many sections of the Connecticut River – which links the string of Connecticut Lakes, is fly fishing only. Watch for and obey the signs which will divide the fly-fishing only sections from the river. Some of the ponds are “fly-fishing” only but others allow both baits, spin, and fly rod action.
NH Birding
Bird watchers and Audubon Society members discovered the Connecticut Lakes Region many decades ago. The annual bird migration brings back songbirds from South America to the northern New Hampshire woods. The Boreal Forest north of First Connecticut Lake is a popular destination for birders.
