Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (MKIM) was founded in 1990 by Charles “Bud” and Nancy Thompson as an education and cultural center to connect visitors with Native American culture, past, and present, and to encourage respect for our environment. The museum features contemporary arts, historical baskets, pottery, bead and quillwork, and archaeological artifacts. Visitors can stroll through the arboretum, walk the trails in the Medicine Woods, play in the teepee and visit the gift shop, in addition to touring the museum. Call for hours and admission charges.

This museum features a collection of Shaker furniture, tools, clothing, photographs, and agricultural implements. You can stroll the Museum’s herb and flower gardens, fields, and hills. Enjoy exhibits, special programs, concerts, guided tours, and craft demonstrations. Hike to the Shaker Feast Ground for a spectacular vista of the Shaker Village nestled along Mascoma Lake. The Shaker Museum Store features Shaker-inspired reproductions, books, local crafts, and farm products, as well as products from the Museum’s renowned herb garden. The Great Stone Dwelling is the largest Shaker dwelling ever constructed. It is a lasting monument to the Shakers of Enfield and is Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the site is a vibrant cultural, community, and educational center. The museum is open year-round. Admission is charged.
