New Hampshire Trees for Troops
Christmas SPIRIT Foundation & FedEx Spread Holiday Cheer
Christmas Tree growers have been providing free trees for military families for years. In 2005, FedEx contacted the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, the 501(c)(3) charitable branch of the National Christmas Tree Association, and wanted to be involved in the foundation’s mission. Together the two organizations expanded the idea of providing Christmas Trees to military families, and Trees for Troops was born. Ask us about NH Trees for Troops or share comments. Christmas trees are grown all over New Hampshire, from the rugged Great North Woods above the White Mountains to the scenic Lakes Region, in the pastoral Monadnock area and on to the farms of the Merrimack Valley and the Seacoast. These NH farms grow several different species of Christmas trees, although Balsam fir and Fraser fir are the most numerous.

Every Christmas Holiday Season Federal Express and The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation with the help of the Rock’s Estate in Bethlehem, NH combine to bring trees to the nation’s troops.
FedEx and The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation – the charity branch of the National Christmas Tree Association – have organized a nationwide effort to boost the Christmas spirit for U.S. military men and women. Christmas Tree growers and retailers will be donating Real Christmas Trees to be distributed at military bases in the U.S. and overseas. Trees reach members of the Marines, Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and National Guard.
Trees for Troops began back in 2005 when 4300 trees were donated to this effort. 4000 were distributed to bases throughout the United States and another 300 were shipped to troops overseas in the Middle East. In 2006, nearly 12,000 troops and their families received trees at 25 bases and in 17 countries.
The Rocks Estate, the Forest Society’s Christmas Tree Farm in Bethlehem New Hampshire, will once again be the collection point for tree donations for both Vermont and New Hampshire. From the White Mountain town of Bethlehem the collected trees will be transported to bases and given out to troops and their families.
Trees for Troops program launches mid November, although monetary and Christmas tree donations may be made year round. The pickup and deliveries of trees going to families at U.S. bases generally runs from November 29 through mid December. If you wish to support this effort in any way please call Nigel Manley at the Rocks Estate in Bethlehem, NH at 603-444-6228.
