White Mountain Fine Dining – Inn Rooms & Country Cottage Accommodations

One of the best fine dining experiences I have found is at the Sugar Hill Inn in Sugar Hill New Hampshire. Our four course Prix Fixe began with Whipped Brie and crostini, accented with red wine poached pear and spiced walnuts, and beet and Vermont goat cheese ravioli served with pistachio pesto, apples, orange and mint. Salads were marinated asparagus on baby argula, dried cherries, pickled shallots, spiced pimentos with a lemon poppy seed dressing. A signature Caesar was also offered. Our entrees were a mouth watering Porterhouse of Veal with buckwheat spaetzle, mushrooms and red wine demi glaze, we also enjoyed Roasted Rack of Australian Lamb, presented with almond croquette potato, whole grain mustard sauce, French green beans and celery root puree. A vegetarian offering of cheddar cheese and truffle pasta gratin, sounded luscious and other offerings like Pan Seared Salmon, Filet of Beef Tenderloin and Free Range Chicken also tempted us. Dessert selections were even harder, Crème Fraise Panna Cotta with berries, Ginger, Ginger, Ginger – a pot de crème, brulee & ice cream, Tart with strawberry glaze and blueberries, or a Chocolate Lover Dream Truffle Cake. All of this was paired with an outstanding red French wine. Coffee and tea brought our evening to an end. Dinner is a 2 to 2 1/2 hour experience at the Sugar Hill Inn. All is perfectly times so that all four courses are easily managed. The menu changes often. The Sugar Hill Inn met the three qualifications for fine dining. Menu, service and atmosphere. They are also recipients of theDiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants Of North America) recognized for excellence. What a wonderful way to start our meal. Other choices were Quail with polenta, a trio of soups, and an interesting Surf and Turf with cod and braised short ribs.
