Starting the New Years off in style in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Candlelight… intimate dining rooms (only ten tables in two rooms)…. two attentive waitpeople… soft jazz playing a swaying tune…flames dancing in the fireplace…and delightful aromas filling the air of home cooked gourmet food. The recipe for a great start to the New Year, a new week or even a romantic evening. Tim-bir Alley is chef-owned and operated by Tim and Biruta Carr. Firsts were a Wild Mushroom and Brie Strudel, and Grilled Shrimp in a Sweet Potato and Coconut Milk Bisque. Both of these are some of the most outstanding flavors combinations that I have experienced. Then a beautiful mixed green salad with pine nuts and crumbled cheese in a balsamic house dressing. Warm bread accompanied this great beginning. A nice bottle of wine from the wine selection and the evening is starting out happy. On to the main event (that is unless you are a dessertaholic). Rack of Lamb, Salmon, or a Beef Tenderloin…perfectly prepared with touch of sauces and herb flavors that allowed the entree to be enjoyed not over powered. This was a definate plus to our palates. Also served, were a medley of veggies, and starches of the chefs choice. Topping off the evening was a wonderful berry tart. There were several selections, but the pastry shell of this incredible tart just melted in your mouth. Coffee or tea complimented the dessert as we lingered before our venture out into the brisk winter night. This was our first experience at Tim-Bir Alley and I am sure it will not be our last. Locals as well as guests of The Adair Inn* and area Inns and B & Bs often find themselves here. The service and quality of the food rated an A, the atmosphere and serenity of the dining was also above reproach. Tim-bir Alley is open Wednesday thru Saturday evening during the winter months. I would call ahead for reservations. This is an adult dining experience in my opinion, one I highly recommend for first quality, fine dining. ~Lynn B for NHLiving.com * Editor’s Note: Tim-Bir Alley is now located on Main Street in Littleton, NH.
