Deerfield New Hampshire was once a parish of Nottingham, Deerfield was incorporated as a town in 1766. It was named for Deerfield, Massachusetts, home of several early settlers.
The town of Deerfield was home to John Simpson, who achieved fame by firing the first shot in the American revolution, disobeying orders “not to fire until you see the whites of their eyes.” Today, Deerfield is the home of the Deerfield Fair – a popular end of the season New Hampshire Agricultural Fair.
